Browser Transparency Test

Parts of the previous page will look wrong in web browsers that don't support transparent images. (PNG alpha channel translucency.)

This feature allows images to blend smoothly into other images or colours beneath them. Browsers which don't support the feature will usually draw grey boxes around the images instead of making them blend in.

Let's test your browser:

This is what you're supposed to see:

If you see something else, such as the image below, then your browser isn't doing the right thing:

Incorrect PNG Alpha Support

If the page looks wrong then you are probably using an old version of Internet Explorer. If you upgrade to Internet Explorer 7 (or Firefox, Safari, Opera, etc.) then the problem should go away.

If you don't want to upgrade, or are unable to upgrade, then don't worry about it! You can still read the page and see the important parts of the screenshots. Things will look a little ugly but it's not the end of the world.

If you're already using IE7 but things still look wrong then it's possible that QuickTime has taken over IE's PNG support. You can tell it not to do this by going to Control Panel > QuickTime > Browser > MIME Settings and unticking the Images checkbox.
